Our organization is part of the international phenomena entitled “Green Drinks” taking place in over 600 cities across the globe. Green drinks events typically feature organic beverages, networking and conversations focused on ecology, sustainable business, innovation and social justice. Originally created in London, England the Green Drinks movement was launched in Asheville in 2004. Apart from consistently producing weekly events for eight years, our claim to fame is that we organize educational speakers and panels every week. Asheville Green Drinks is open to all and currently hosted at Green Sage (5 Biltmore Avenue in Downtown Asheville). We are lucky to be supported by a loyal community of followers from a wide spectrum of ideological backgrounds and beliefs.

Asheville Green Drinks planning is coordinated by a steering committee (a.k.a. Partners in Education) curated by Asheville’s leading non-profits. Led by Mountain True, it includes Lenoir-Rhyne University – Center for Graduate Studies of Asheville, Western North Carolina Building Alliance, the Western North Carolina Chapter of the Sierra Club, Transition Asheville and the United Nations Association of Western North Carolina. Our private commercial member includes Joseph B. Malki – providing creative, technology and communication for the event series. Each non-profit markets and communicates Asheville Green Drinks’ weekly events on their respective websites, event calendars and social media. Asheville Green Drinks is an all-volunteer unincorporated association dedicated to supporting and growing Asheville’s reputation as a community distinguished by its sustainability and social justice awareness. We are proud of what we have accomplished in eleven years.
